On Sunday October 6th, COBCA brought to Central Ohio its Annual Cultural Event, with Jasraj Joshi and Lambada. I know each and every one of the 600 people who attended will agree with me that it was a great success and everyone had an enjoyable evening. This event was also a kick-off to our Durga Puja festivities.
This last weekend (Oct 11th - 13th) we celebrated our three day celebration of Durga Puja – a first time in COBCA history, and I am overwhelmed at the response and attendance from the community. We had about 350 adults in attendance and an all-time record breaking response from our student community, with 90 students that registered for Durga Puja! Being an OSU student at one time myself and getting welcomed by the COBCA community at that time, it made me immensely proud to see such a level of participation and it made our Durga Puja celebration all the more fun-filled and sweet to have everyone get together in this fashion.
I hope all of you got to worship Ma Durga like you remember doing at home. I am sure you enjoyed the quality of cultural programming, with lots of high caliber local performers and our invited artists from India – Robi O Nobin. From the number of people out there dancing, I know the RON performance was a great hit! This was coupled with some awesome food from our food committee and volunteers.
I want to thank each and every one for attending and making these events a great success, and all our dedicated volunteers who make all this happen. Volunteers - I’m sure each of you are still trying to get over your aches and pains – but will agree with me that it was very satisfying to see everyone including us have such a great time. A special thanks to our Board, and my fellow EC members, as well as our planning teams for both events.
My Bijoya subechha and best wishes to all, pronam to our COBCA seniors, and I want to end by saying: Asche Bochor Abaar Hobe!!
